Week 13

                                                              Gamla Stan walk

This week we walked around Gamla Stan. We had a guide from the Middle Ages museum that showed us around. We went to Storkyrkan in Gamla Stan. The guide told us a story about Sten Sture, It was exciting. She showed us an old monastery, that was a little bit creepy. We were out for one hour. After that we went home.

Today we had to build a course with a mat, except one large mat that you should jump over The mat then you had to run around The track do and you most play "Burpes"

The Middle Ages Museum 

Thursday this week we were on a trip to the Middle Ages museum. It was very interesting and a good learning experience. We looked at a model of Stockholm in the Middle Ages. We also looked at a statue of a knight in full armor. We had a guide that explained how eleven years old children looked like in the Middle Ages. 

PLANE CRASH

A few days ago a plane crashed in the French Alps,with no survivors. Around 150 people  died. Now they have found the black box, and people think that the pilot had went out for some reason and that the co-pilot (on purpose) had crashed the plane. Now many people wonder if he had planned it.

In Melodifestivalen 2015 the winner was Måns Zelmerlöw. He won with the song "Heroes". He got most votes in Melodifestivalen ever.  Melodifestivalen are a song-contest with 7 parts. 2 people from every part goes to final and 2 goes to second chance. If you want to see the video, here's the link

                                                               ROCK YOUR SOCKS!

This week it was rock your socks day. Rock your socks is an event when you put on different socks to show that every human is different. First the tradition came from Canada but now it hade came all way to Sweden.

Gym - Dance

This week we have dance on gym. First we listen to Mozart and classic music on the music and them we have dance in a group. The theme was a (school day) when we did the dance we can't speak. It's was very fun and little hard.

This week we had music and we listened to old classic music like Bach,Beethoven and Mozart. We listened to 7 different songs and then we got papers where it stood the artists and Thomas played the song and we tried to guess witch it was

                                NORTHERN LIGHT The strongest sunstorm in years led many in the southern parts of the country were surprised and fascinated by the aurora who played in the firmament on Tuesday evening. The growth was it from Svealand and north. But even those in the southern part of the country could enjoy it.

Solar eclipse

On Friday the 20th 09:40 - 10:40 it was a solar eclipse. A solar eclipse is when the moon is between the earth and sun. It doesn't happen very often. The latest solar eclipse that was this good were about 48 years ago.

Last time it was a solar eclipse were 2012 (3 years ago).

Posters The Little Riders.

Last  week we finished to read the little riders. This week we started to do posters about them. After we was finished with them the teachers choose one of them to a contest on the library.

                                                        Grammar films This week we worked with grammar films when we explain a grammar like adjective verb and nouns. It's fun but difficult to do. We hope we will do something like this agin soon.

Today we had a grammar test.

First we got two papers that we don't can't look on. We had one hour to do the test:) It was not so hard.

                                      Stockholm's test

This week we had a test about math. It was not so much question in the test. It was some question about precent and the rest was math problems.tis was one of the 2 testes. But we did the 2nd.:-)

ESCALATOR

This week SL closed the escalators because in "Östermalms Torg" an old woman got stuck in the escalator and they might amputate her leg, in "Centrala Stationen" SL have given water to those who have walked up all the steps. SL knew that the escalators weren't safe but they didn't tell the people or do something about it.

This week and next week is world championships in Falun. Yesterday Sweden take silver medal in cross country skiing and on the first place came Norway. It's three sports the first is cross country the second is ski jumping and the last is Nordic combined.

Shrove Tuesday

At Tuesday it was shrove Tuesday. Here is some facts about it

Traditionally viewed as a day of repentance, Shrove Tuesday has become the last day for celebration and feasting before the period of fasting required during the Lenten season. The name "Shrove Tuesday" is derived from the word "shrive", which means to confess and receive absolution. The name denotes a period of cleansing, wherein a person brings their lusts and appetites under subjection through abstention and selfsacrifice.

The Middle Ages

This week we watched a short movie about a guy named Ahmed. He found a stool. He got three choices of what used the stool in the Middle Ages. The first option was a stool where the executioner sat on  The second option was a stool where the people who went to the dentist sat on. The third option was where the guy who tried food before the king or the queen ate it. He guessed on the third option. The right answer was the first option.

This week we have worked with the rainforest ecosystem. A rainforest has high annual rainfall, at least 1500 millimeters, spread over at least 9 months of the year. Real rainforest is found only in the tropics and are called tropical rainforest.

                                                                 Last episode of Arn

This Monday we were looking at the last episode of Arn. We all was very excited. Arn was a Templar. In the end of the episode it was a war between Sweden and Danmark. Norway helped Sweden and Sweden won the war. Arn was hurt and when they was home again, he fell to the ground.Then his wife Cecilia run to Arn and he died in her arms.

 STUDENTS' CHOICE This week we have a new students' choice=)Cuddly toys and we Make it because we have needlework. Every week all children go on Thursday morning to the student

s'choice.

Micke's birthday!

On Wednesday it was Micke's birthday. Micke was in the classroom and marked tests when we  ice skated. Thomas gave a tart to Micke as a gift, and I hope he had a lovely day. Micke is now 31 years old.

Friday the 13th is a unlucky day. Why? Current events

This week in Malmo central train station (Sweden) a 9 year old boy traveled with the train without a ticket and the guard caught the boy without a ticket and pushed him down to the ground and sat on him. He smashed his head repeatedly in the ground and held his hand on the boy's mouth so he couldn't breathe. He can't work until the case is solved.

We think that the guard overreacted on the 9 year old boy. He was so young and the guard was a grownup who is much bigger and stronger than the boy. We think that he never should get his work license back.

                                                Current events  This week there was a meeting in Minsk were they decided that it was going to be a truce in the war in Ukraine. On the meeting was the leaders of Ukraine,France,Germany and Russia. The truce will start on sunday.

Valentine's Day 

Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” Valentine’s Day is named after a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia.

At school today we celebrated Valentine's Day by making a "heart" on the schoolyard.

             ICE SKATING

On 11 February we had a whole day with ice skating on Östermalms IP. We worked with lifesaving throwing out a rope and pulls mean one and we do the classics we would go 14 laps around the circle. On Östermalms IP after that we eat food and Playing in snowdrifts. 

                                                    PHYSICAL EDUCATION

This week we played ghost ball but it was other rules and the name was financial ball. The rules was: 2 teams and it was a paper there you can buy things on. The other team can buy something to. Every team has 1000 money that they can buy things that will help the team. Frida & Linnea

In  English we write text and read English books. And in the English book brief introduction. And in the SO we write itinerary and read about Europe.

    Radio calendar ”high tower”

This week we started listen to the christhmas calendar “High Tower”. The maincharacters is 3 kids named John,Anja and Samira. The first episode, they were at school and when they went home after school to high tower. And there mission is to find the man Golnander. Golnander is the owner of high tower but when Golnander disappeared high tower was just halfbuilt.  It appears many random different things in mårsta , at the schoolfloor it appears a big hole, and at big

This week we were reading our English books.

When we borrowed our books we had to read one page to see if we understand the book. If we didn’t understand five words in one page we had to borrow a new book but if it just was two words we didn’t understand it was okey to borrow the book.

In the end of the school year we have to explain what’s happened in the book. Then we have to wright about what we think about the book if it was good or not.

Short stories

Lately in the Swedish we have bin planing our own short stories. It could be about anything for example football or  someone that gets busted. We got three papers with questions that we needed to answer. Then we need to start our short stories, but we haven't started to write our short stories yet

on the student's choice, we work makes soft toys such as seals with sewing machine.

                                                            NTA - chemistry 

This week worked with chemistry. This Wednesday we clean the things that we worked with this autumn and put in a big box. We wash things and Put them in bags.Then we put everything in the blue big box.when we are done cleaning we work with "The mysterious  substances"  that is three small cans with two substances in each can and we we are going to find out which substances it is.

   PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Today and yesterday we worked with gymnastics. We worked on handstanding and headstanding. We also worked with somersaults and cart-wheeling. We got help from our gym teacher Monica. At the end of the lession everybody told Monica everything we learned and everybody learned something new! :)

On Swedish we doing a short story.We start when get a paper from Micke(teacher) :D and it what's question on it.We answer the questions and give it back to Micke. next week I thinking we gonna start whith the short story^.^

The last week where we on the opera house and sow a opera called: Mina läskiga föräldrar.

It where a god show. This week it where a opera workshop in the School and it where a girl she where there and did differends stuff with us for example we had to choose three stuff on 30 seconds if it start to burning. It where really hard but everyone did it!!!! It where fun!

EUROPE TEST

Today we had a Europe test. We had to know were 37 countries  are and the country's capitals. We had one hour to write on a paper the capitals and the countries. We had a map with numbers on it and the numbers were on the paper to so we wrote down the countries name on the side of the numbers. We had one week to study for the test.

Social Studies

This week we in history we started working with the Middle Ages. We have started watching a TV-show called "Arn tempelriddaren", it was pretty good. We have also looked at some maps of Stockholm during the Middle Ages. In Sweden the Middle Ages was from about year 1000 to 1500.

A suspected submarine was chased just a few kilometers outside of central Stockholm, between Vaxholm and Nacka in the entrance to the capital.

Ambassador game(gym)

At the gym today (Friday) and yesterday (Tuesday) we've played a new game called Ambassador game. It was fun, but it would have  been better with more people. The game is like killer ball but if you have been hit by a ball you been on the bench on the other side. You can bee saved by another person in your own squad that throw a been bag and you should catch the been bag to be free!

                                           The water cycle

This week we started working with the water cycle. We watched a movie and we learned a lot! After the movie we talked about it and now we are ready to start the project! We learned that the water becomes steam and goes up to heaven and becomes a cloud. When the cloud becomes to thick it either rains, snows or hails and then it becomes water again!:)

This week on the music we were looking at a documentary about Elvis Presley. Thomas - our music teacher was showing Elvis Presley's music videos on YouTube. He told us that Michael Jackson and Elvis daughter was together a while. In the end we saw Elvis funeral on YouTube.

He died 1977. Elvis was a good singer and dancer. He wanted too be acter that everybody was afraid of. But that never happened because the film producer wanted to use his sing voice in the movies. When Elvis daughter, that he loved very much,  was a kid he was keep going on world concerts. He went home sometimes to see he's wife and daughter but after a while Elvis wife was tired of all the concerts that Elvis was on every week so she wanted to divorce. When Elvis and he's wife was divorced Elvis never become himself again.

Ice on Football Field

Lately on the Football Field it has been slippery. Some people have fallen and hurt themselves, because they have not listened to the teacher. Now the the teachers have closed the Football Field so noone will hurt themselves.

Week 6

                            New students choice

This week we had new students choice. Last week we chose between social studies, art, woodwork, sewing and writing (students choice). On the social studies we are writing about famous women. At the writing lessons they are making stories. On woodwork they chose what they wanted to do, many of them are making bridges. At the sewing they are making stuffed animals.

Woodwork

In woodwork we have been doing pictures, you could do anything, if you for example like  soccer you could do a soccer ball. Someone did a smiley and someone else did a pen. To do the picture you had to have a hammer and a chisel. You should hammer on the chisel so it would be a notch in the wood. When you were done with the pictures you could do a fork or a spoon. You could do a long or a short fork/spoon

Sami national day

Today it's sami national day. Sami is a Swedish folk group. Sami live in the north. On the day they catching reindeer and their music calls yoiking.  The number of Sami estimated at 80,000 in Lapland , which in Sweden about 20,000 , in Finland about 6000 and about 50-55 000 people in Norway and the Kola Peninsula in Russia.

 Heraldry-shield

 This week we started making heraldry-shield. The shield was based on your last name or something. For example if your last name is Chris Eagle then you can make a Eagle on your shield. First we made a sketch and then we started making the real shield. We were only allowed to use a couple of colors: Red,Blue,Black,Green and Purple.

                         Outside gym

This week we had outside gym. We have played a game called "kabaddi" There are two teams and one person from each team chases persons from the other team but he musst say kabaddi the all time. If he chasing persons but if he stop saying kabaddi he's out.I it's a game from India it is very complicated but very fun. The second game was rugby it was very fun and it was very cold but fun to have outside gym:)  

Swedish grammar

Today we were working with verbs and adjectives. Were looking at a painting an first try to find as many adjectives as possible. And then the same thing but with verbs. It was a little hard but fun. Then we were looking at a film named gramatikbolaget and its about grammar.

 Student news report (Lilla aktuellt)                          

Today we look at student news report. It was about the school lunch room and a skateboard school in Afghanistan.

In some  school lunch room it can be so loud like if you sit in a traffic roundabout !!

In Afghanistan the have started a skate school for the children in ages 5-17. Most of the children don't have money to go in a regular school. But the skate school is free.

And then we looked  school competition. There were 3 questions and guess  the face it was Joshi and Victoria. They are sisters and both of them compete in figure skating.

THE LITTLE RIDERS 

   

  This week we drew what we thought the book "The Little Riders" was about. The Little Riders is about a little girl (11 years) Her name is Johanna who's parents sent her to her grandparents and they live in holland. Her parents never came to get her. Germany (the Nazis) attacked holland in 1940. She loves to look at the little riders from her room. The German army took over Holland. 

Music

On the music this week we worked with wich artist that earn most money from juni 2013 to juni 2014. The artist that earn most money was Dr Dre.

He earned for and a half billon dollar because he sold hes company Beats by Dr Dre to Apple. The persone that was after Dr Dre was Beyonce  she earned aboute 900 million. The third one was the Eagels they earned aboute 500 million.
